From 24 to 26 October the trade fair and conference „digital regions – today and tomorrow“ organized by aconium GmbH took place in Berlin for the first time ever. In the context of the Broadband World Forum 2017 – an international meeting place for managers of the broadband sector with more than 300 industry representatives and over 4000 visitors from more than 79 nations – the aconium-hall combined the advantages of a trade fair and a conference concerning the topics broadband and digitization.

At the trade fair in the aconium-hall, companies of the broadband sector presented their innovative ideas and concrete applications of digitization. At the same time, an extensive conference programme gave interesting insights into the subjects gigabit society, broadband expansion and funding possibilities.

On 24 October, Tim Brauckmüller, Managing Director at aconium GmbH, inaugurated the trade fair. He stated that the three-day event in the context of Broadband World Forum’s Germany premiere aims on showing the broadband development in Germany. Brauckmüller underlined the immense dynamic of German broadband expansion. Due to this, the trade fair brought together municipalities, regions and the economic sector in order to support further broadband deployment.

On the same day, over 100 experts and representatives of regional and national administrations from Germany and other EU member states discussed broadband topics at the Governmental Workshop organized by aconium GmbH. Furthermore, they talked about key figures, political actions and best practice examples.

The second day of the trade fair focused on the subjects broadband funding and digital transformation. The speakers at the panel in the morning talked about the demands of the economy and procedures such as funding possibilities from the perspective of consultants. In the afternoon, the Autumn Conference of German Broadband Initiative (Initiative D21) was a platform where experts from the digital sector came together to discuss the opportunities of the digital transformation for cities, regions and citizens.

The third day of the conference programme was about best practice examples of digital connectivity. An investigation of German smart city market development was introduced and potentials of smart services in rural areas were presented from the viewpoint of German farmers.

Finally, this very first trade fair of aconium GmbH closed at six in the evening on 28 October. Both, exhibitors and speakers endorsed the event’s success.
