Despite the current situation, the expansion of fiber optics in Germany continues. Numerous groundbreaking ceremonies and start-ups took place again in November. In order to create the basis for a nationwide and future-proof broadband supply in Germany, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is providing a funding program worth billions. With the help of federal funding from the BMVI, the investment projects that took place in November will receive a total of around 57 million euros.

In Hartha, Saxony, around 1,000 households, roughly 150 companies and three schools will be connected once the construction work is complete. The groundbreaking ceremony for the launch took place on November 6, 2020.
A groundbreaking ceremony was also held in Neudenau (Baden-Württemberg) on November 10, 2020. Around 1,600 households, 240 companies and five schools will then be supplied with fiber optic connections.
Broadband expansion also began in the municipality of Ostrau in Saxony with the groundbreaking ceremony on 13 November 2020. More than 150 households and 19 companies will benefit from gigabit-capable connections once the construction work is complete.
Wallersdorf in Bavaria also celebrated the start of construction work with a groundbreaking ceremony on November 25, 2020. More than 100 households, 32 companies and a school will be equipped with future-proof fiber optic technology.
Construction work for the expansion of the gigabit network also began in Grafenhausen (Baden-Württemberg) on 26 November 2020. As part of the federal funding from the BMVI, 41 participants and one school will receive access to the gigabit-capable network.
In Nürtingen, a municipality in Baden-Württemberg, the gigabit expansion was also launched on November 27, 2020. Following the completion of the project, twelve schools will receive connections to the gigabit network.
The district of Minden-Lübbecke celebrated a partial launch on November 30, 2020. Once the project is completed, around 21,200 households, approximately 400 companies and 32 schools will be connected to the high-speed broadband network.
