Partners of the Interreg North Sea Region (NSR) HyTrEc2 project convened in Milton Keynes, UK for the 12th Steering Group Meeting of the project, held in conjunction with the Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) Event.

The reason for the transnational partner meeting was to ensure adherence to the timeline of all outstanding deliverables and results by the project end in 2023. Furthermore, the partners exchanged ideas on strategy development and how the partnership can capitalise on project results to achieve lasting impact.

HyTrEc2 project continues to target the promotion and testing of green hydrogen production, vehicles and storage and distribution solutions. This includes, for example, the piloting of a ground power unit (GPU) newly converted to a hydrogen-powered GPU at the Eelde Airport in Groningen, Netherlands. The ultimate goal of the HyTrEc2 project, which is implemented as a continuation of the Interreg NSR HyTrEc project (2011-2016), is to develop a common strategy and stimulate initiatives across the NSR that support the further use of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) in the NSR and beyond.

In addition, the HyTrEc2 capitalised on their visit to the UK to take part in the 15th annual Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) Event, which took place on the 7th-8th September 2022 in Millbrook, UK. The Cenex LCV event included a technology exhibition across three halls, an extensive seminar programme, facilitated networking sessions, and a “Ride & Drive” showcase featuring the latest research and development (R&D) and commercially marketed vehicles. Representatives from aconium were present to network with likeminded companies, EU projects and initiatives, in addition to take a look into the latest developments in low carbon mobility.

Background

The main objective of the HyTrEc2 project is to create conditions under which the hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) market can develop and the North Sea region can evolve to become a centre of excellence for fuel cells and range extenders.

The project aims to promote the FCEV market. For this purpose, the results from different project components will be developed into a strategy. The project components provide insights into the more cost-effective production and storage of green hydrogen and the cost-efficient use of hydrogen in energy supply and transport.  With the implementation of a multitude of local initiatives of the transnational project partners a practical relevance of the elaborated results can be guaranteed.

aconium supports the HyTrEc2 partnership in project management and the development of marketing measures. This includes the lead coordination of the hydrogen filling station app development H2live.
