Modern and energy-efficient district heating offers great potential for reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. Compact district heating knowledge in the form of an extensive training package and three e-learning courses is now.
The results of the Interreg VB projects LowTEMP and LowTEMP 2.0 transfer knowledge about smart and sustainable district heating supply and promote the introduction of energy efficient low temperature district heating networks in the Baltic Sea region.
LowTEMP 2.0, which focused especially on capacity building in the partner countries, has been successfully finalised now. During the one-year project period, the partners held mostly virtual seminars in the respective national languages reaching more than 1100 participants. The seminar topics and teaching content were adapted to the target groups and their thematic backgrounds. Presentation slides and handouts are now available and can be used by other actors and institutions for their own workshops and events. In this way, knowledge about sustainable heat supply in the Baltic Sea region can be disseminated beyond the project period. Additional background material can be requested from the project partners at any time.
As a project partner, aconium GmbH developed three e-learning courses complementing the training package. The first course offers a thematic introduction to the topic of district heating supply. In the second course, sustainable district heating supply is looked at in the context of European climate goals and the third course deals with various technical aspects and the possibilities for integrating renewable energy sources.
The current developments in both climate and foreign policy, put a spotlight on the necessity of accelerating the German and European heating transition towards sustainable district heating supply. Knowledge is the first step for all responsible actors: the LowTEMP 2.0 teaching material offers an important starting point.
