With the Leipzig Smart City Lab, the city wants to make digitalization tangible for all citizens. The Digital City department has now opened the Smart City Lab in a former power station in the city center, offering all interested parties the opportunity to get to know the city administration’s digital services, try out new technologies and exchange ideas with digitalization experts.
As part of an interactive exhibition, current digital city projects are presented and made tangible in the listed rooms. Visitors have the opportunity to explore urban planning designs with VR glasses, test innovative sensor technology and try out the Leipzig app.
One thematic focus of the Smart City Lab is on the topic of artificial intelligence and the current or future potential applications in the various areas of city administration. As a citizen-oriented interface, the Smart City Lab also provides information about the numerous collaborations that have already been initiated or are currently being implemented as part of the digital city. Digitization experts from the department will be available for discussions with interested parties, questions and ideas.
The new information and participation offer is funded by the Connected Urban Twins (CUT) project as part of the Smart Cities model municipalities from the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB).
