The project partners met in Berlin at the beginning of December to prepare for the last project year. The aim of EPIC is to enable students for their entry to the labour market by introducing problem-based learning into study programmes.

Companies contribute case studies to the project, which will be implemented by students from at least two different European study locations. In the third and final year of the project, all case studies will focus on the UN’s sustainability goals. During the meeting, the partners reviewed the case studies and formed international student groups.

This year, aconium GmbH provides the case study “Carbon footprint of companies”. Students from Spain, Norway, the Netherlands and Turkey will work together in order to analyse the causes of CO2 emissions of companies and create a tool that provide for analysing the carbon footprint of SMEs. In February 2020, students, their teachers and the EPIC project team will meet for a one-week seminar in Hamburg, where the participating students and teachers will receive tools to successfully implement the work on the case studies. The students and companies mainly collaborate virtually.

In addition to the case study, aconium GmbH is also involved in the creation of teaching materials to facilitate cooperation between university lecturers and companies in international projects. Until the end of the project in August 2020, the EPIC partners will present the concepts and methods of international, interdisciplinary and virtual cooperation developed during the project and make them available to the European higher education community in Europe.
