Attention teachers and pupils! On May 27, the 2IMPREZS project from the Interreg North Sea Region (NSR) invites school classes and individual pupils to exchange ideas about possible energy-saving measures in schools. The transnational event with participants from the entire North Sea region will take place online from 10:00 to 12:30.
As part of the 2IMPREZS project, so-called Energy Challenges are being held at schools in the North Sea region. The aim of the competition is to encourage pupils to develop their own measures toreduce CO2 emissions– for example by changing behavioral patterns or implementing simple technical energy-saving measures at schools. These include switching to LED lighting or a more conscious approach to energy consumption when ventilating and heating.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition is being held digitally this year. The final event for this competition is intended to recognize and celebrate the students’ findings and efforts, but also to inspire them to continue their commitment to climate protection. The future climate protectors are already waiting in the wings! School classes and pupils are also invited to the event, where they can benefit from the exchange, even if they did not take part in the competition. The international event is held in English and brings together pupils aged between 10 and 14 from all project partner countries – Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Denmark. Participants can look forward to exciting, interactive elements – but shh, we’re not giving too much away yet! Just this much…, in the run-up to the event, pupils can submit contributions of a maximum of two minutes for a video competition. The topic is: What technical and behavioral measures can be used to save energy in schools?
The videos should show how their behavior has changed as a result of participating in the Energy Challenges and why this campaign is so important. Three winning videos will be shown at the event. An overview of the conditions of participation in the competition can be found at the end of the article. Participation in the event will take place via the so-called IFS platform (Interactive Fact Sheet). It was developed by aconium GmbH as part of the 2IMPREZS project and allows pupils, teachers and parents to track the progress of energy-saving measures during the Energy Challenges. The platform also offers digital resources, games and background information on the 2IMPREZS Energy Challenges and energy topics in preparation for the event and beyond.
Conditions of participation
Participating students must ensure that the video meets the following criteria:
- Maximum length of 2 minutes
- English as the video language or the use of English subtitles
- The 2IMPREZS logo (with the EU flag) is displayed at the beginning or end of the video
- All persons who can be seen in the video have given their consent in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. A corresponding declaration must be enclosed with the application
Students who would like to take part in the video competition are asked to send their entries to info@energychallenges.eu by May 10, 2021.
Background
The transnational strategy of the 2IMPREZS project aims to achieve energy savings of up to 30% in over 140 schools in the North Sea region. This corresponds to a reduction in emissions of approx. 7,320 tons ofCO2. As a project partner, aconium is responsible for communication with the schools in the project region. The participating schools are supported throughout the entire project and have a fixed contact person for the implementation of the Energy Challenges and the sustainable reduction of their energy consumption. In addition, aconium GmbH organizes the local meetings of the schools in order to promote the transnational exchange of knowledge.
