The SmartUp Accelerator platform, which was launched in November 2020, brings together ambitious smart start-ups, influential intermediaries, established large companies and investors from the consumer cleantech sector in the Baltic Sea region. The platform addresses pioneers in the field of consumer cleantech and enables powerful collaborations by joining forces across sectors and national borders.
As a continuation of the Interreg Baltic Sea (BSR) SmartUp Accelerator project – a cooperation project between seven countries around the Baltic Sea with a focus on building consumer cleantech ecosystems– the SmartUp Accelerator Platform has gone online. The virtual platform brings together passionate “smartups” – or startups that do business with intelligent use of resources via digital services – as well as prominent intermediaries and influential large companies and investors in the field of consumer cleantech around the Baltic Sea region.
The network’s players include both local smartups and international companies looking to expand into the Baltic Sea region. The platform and network will provide access to other organisations interested in promoting innovative and sustainable solutions that have a high potential for market success.
Furthermore, the platform will support participating organisations by putting them in contact with regional stakeholders and companies, providing information on funding opportunities (focused on cleantech or low-carbon innovations for consumers), identifying testbeds for different projects/stakeholders (i.e. future Interreg BSR/European project opportunities) and assisting in the identification of international partners.
The project’s network also provides access to market studies and research results as well as case studies and trends or market-related information in the field of consumer cleantech across the Baltic Sea Region. Also the exposure at European level and the networking opportunities with stakeholders in the field of consumer cleantech (i.e. digitalisation, low carbon/energy efficiency) as well as potential Interreg BSR/European project partnerships make the platform an interesting tool.
Members of the SmartUp Accelerator Network currently include science parks, innovation centers, startups, think tanks, universities, large companies and other intermediaries from across the Baltic Sea region – for example, Johanneberg Science Park, Innovatum, Leningrad Region Industrial Development Center, Enterprise Estonia, BuildIt (Latvia), HubHub and others.
