Thuringia’s local government is to become even more digital. This is the objective of the newly issued e-government funding guideline of the Free State of Thuringia, which came into force on July 1, 2024.
With a budget of 10 million euros, digitization projects are to be promoted at municipal level. The guideline for promoting e-government and IT in Thuringian municipalities has been adapted even more closely to the needs of municipalities following discussions with those responsible for digitization projects at municipal level. For example, even greater emphasis has been placed on municipal cooperation in implementation projects, which will mean even more standardized and uniform processes in Thuringian administrative practice for citizens and companies in the future. The funding program serves to improve access to public administration services for the population and businesses through the use of modern information technologies and services.
Eligible for funding under the guidelines include the introduction of document management systems (DMS) or e-invoicing applications, the implementation of management systems to strengthen cyber resilience or the creation of municipal digital agendas and e-government strategies. Thuringian municipalities that wish to implement digitization measures for themselves and in cooperation with other municipalities in the Free State are eligible to apply. Applications for funding can be submitted digitally to the Thuringian Ministry of Finance.
