Energy efficient district heating (DH) systems are key to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. To unlock this potential, more knowledge about the next generation of district heating supply systems among the various types of responsible stakeholders is needed. Therefore, the partners of the Interreg VB project LowTEMP 2.0 project partners will work on capacity building and develop trainings with the aim to increase knowledge on smart and sustainable DH grids in the Baltic Sea Region.

LowTEMP 2.0 is an extension of the LowTEMP project, which was completed in December 2020. Building on the project results, 11 partners and 42 associated partners from local, regional and national authorities, district heating suppliers, energy agencies, research institutions, associations and SMEs in nine countries in the Baltic Sea region continue their work on the “LowTEMP training package”. aconium GmbH has developed the concept for the extension stage and is now responsible for the creation of e-learning courses as a full partner in the project.

Based on the training package that has already been developed, approaches and tools for achieving sustainable and efficient energy supply systems in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) will be transformed into online learning modules, which offer efficient and self-determined learning opportunities. The target groups of this offer are municipal and regional representatives in charge of energy supply, energy companies and suppliers, energy agencies, planners and engineers.

In parallel to the creation of the e-learning courses, the LowTEMP training package will be adapted by the project partners to the national and local characteristics of nine BSR countries, e.g. with regard to the legal frameworks, the stakeholder landscape and country specific funding programmes. Furthermore, they will be translated into the partner languages and published on the LowTEMP project website alongside the e-learning courses.
