Energy-efficient district heating supply systems offer great potential for reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. In order to exploit this potential, more knowledge about the next generation of district heating supply systems needs to be transferred to the responsible stakeholders. The partners of the Interreg VB project LowTEMP 2.0 are working together on capacity building and training with the aim of increasing the know-how on smart and sustainable district heating networks in the Baltic Sea Region.

LowTEMP2.0 is an extension of the LowTEMP project, which was completed in December 2020, and builds on its results. In LowTEMP 2.0, 11 partners and 42 associated partners from local, regional and national authorities, district heating suppliers, energy agencies, research institutions, associations and SMEs in nine countries of the Baltic Sea Region continue their work on the “LowTEMP training package”. The concept for this was developed by aconium GmbH, which is participating as a project partner with the task of creating several e-learning courses.

Based on the training package already developed, approaches and tools for achieving sustainable and efficient energy supply systems in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) will be digitally prepared by the end of 2021 and compiled in an online learning method that is effective and enables self-directed learning. The target groups of this offer are municipal and regional representatives responsible for energy supply issues, energy suppliers and companies, energy agencies, planners and engineers.

In parallel to the e-learning courses, the LowTEMP training package will be adapted by the project partners to national and local specifics, e.g. with regard to the legal framework, the stakeholder landscape and country-specific funding programmes. In addition, the training package will be translated into the partner languages and published with the new e-learning courses on the LowTEMP project website. The LowTEMP Twitter account will provide information on the latest project activities.
