On May 24, 2018, Creglingen’s mayor Uwe Hehn, together with mayor Heike Naber (Niederstetten), district councillor Ute Schindler-Neidlein, district councillor Karl Haag, Sebastian Mayer from the Niederstetten town planning office and department head Jochen Müssig, symbolically pressed the button to commission the newly established broadband network in the second expansion area. The date was a “happy day” for Creglingen, emphasized Hehn, as the municipality and all its districts and hamlets are now connected to the high-speed Internet.

Regional Manager Dr. Veit Steinle and funding consultant Susanne Menzel came to the Main-Tauber district as representatives of aconium GmbH, the project sponsor of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). The district’s overall project is being financed with a good 10.25 million euros from the BMVI’s federal broadband funding program. A further 4.1 million euros in funding is being provided by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The district is also contributing a good 6.15 million euros of its own funds to finance the expansion project. The expansion in the Main-Tauber district is taking place in a total of nine expansion areas.

The 1st cluster was already put into operation in February. Clusters 3, 4 and 5 will follow the 2nd expansion area in the summer. The overall project should be completed by the end of 2018. The Main-Tauber district will then be supplied with broadband infrastructure across the board. A total of around 47,190 households and businesses in 18 towns and municipalities will then have access to data transfer rates of at least 50 Mbit/s.
