On November 15, 2018, the special call for applications for “schools and hospitals” under the federal broadband funding program will start. Local authorities can apply for funding for connections to schools and hospitals with symmetrical coverage of one gigabit/s as part of the special call, whereby a total of one application per municipal area is permitted and the de minimis limit for funding projects is EUR 10,000.
Funding for schools and hospitals in areas in which households are also underserved is provided by application as part of the sixth funding call for infrastructure projects. The guideline “Funding to support broadband expansion in the Federal Republic of Germany” (first amendment dated 03.07.2018) was amended accordingly. Applications for funding for broadband expansion for schools and hospitals can be submitted via the central online portal www.breitbandausschreibungen.de from November 15, 2018.
